Hi minnietoty,
I do remember your name from the days I was very active on the forum. I understand your fear of the surgery. It took me four years of suffering and encouragement from my PCP before I finally decided I had to take the leap and try the surgery.
I have kicked myself for not doing the surgery sooner. I had prepared myself for a horrible recovery, and was pleasantly surprised! My painful GERD and uncontrollable asthma was far worse. I am now 10 years out and continue to feel great. I do expect to need a redo at some point—I have allergic asthma and it flares with viruses as well, so I strain my hernia repair with terrible coughing at times. I will happily do the redo, as I don’t intend to suffer the way I did before surgery.
I wish you luck in your search for answers. I hope you do consider a Nissen surgery as a possible positive option. I’m sure glad I did!!
Best wishes,
Denise
