Hello everyone, I am grateful to read your posts.
I have been all around this forum as I belong to many topics I’m afraid.
Recently I have been battling something...I don’t know what....but it’s been miserable.
It’s about swallowing, stomach motility and GI function.
I have lupus and sjogren’s, (and some other diagnosis that I can’t see would have anything to do with this)....
Certainly lupus and sjogren’s might.
As far as I can tell my rheumy, symptoms began last summer. It was real hot, we were getting our house ready to put on the market somworking hard in the heat...
I noticed around then or just after I began to get what I will call vertigo. It always hit at night after I had laid down for a few hours, and my spine, thoracic and cervical got kind of sore.
Thought oh-oh, and did my best to ignore it and hoped it would pass.
It never really has. Then in about February, still the dizziness and sea legs, I noticed it was getting harder to eat. Just was not hungry at all and got full after two bites of anything.
My cervical spine got real bad too. Ice pick headaches at the base of my head and to the right under my ear. Could not turn my head or I went for a big nauseating ride inside my head.
Then the eating got much worse and then some vomiting in the morning when I woke up.
I got a bit better after I got up and was up and around a bit. Still no interest in eating much.
I have been dx’ed with gastroparesis of the stomach but had always managed it pretty well.
But it was clear at this point it had gotten much worse.
Then when I tried to eat, the GERD began, just really bad. Had to go to the ER one morning to get help with the vomiting. So now I pretty much eat teeny tiny meals all day long. Mostly soup, applesauce and toast, eggs that kind of thing.
Bu the cervical pain has kept up, and in fact has really been hard on the right side of my head.
I have had some hearing loss, vision problems, balance issues, muscle weakness seems mostly on one side. I await an MRI next week. You know it almost feels like I might have had a mini-stroke. My cognitive function is not all there, or real slow, and memory especially recent and word recall just terrible.
I had been put on a drug at the ER called Sucrlfate, and rinatidine and pantopropal.
I was only able to do them for a week or so as my face began to swell so bad.
Now I just do the pantopropal.
Still can’t eat, GI tract is non functioning without laxatives.
There seems to be zero movement in my belly, no sounds, not feeling of hunger and the GERD can get bad if I eat anything larger than what I mentioned. Ate a burger the other day because I got hungry and it darn near finished me......that happens on occasion and every time I swear off food ever again.....
So that is my long story thanks for making it here to the end if you could.
My questions are has anyone ever had GERD or stomach issues begin in this way? I am wondering if somehow I hurt my cervical spine and pinched some nerves ie vagus that has just stopped my GI tract from functioning? Do you think that is possible?
Thanks tuffymason
