After a horrific cold virus which I think I contracted from the Dentist's, I started having trouble with mucus accumulating deep down my throat where my voice box is located and the only way to be able to talk is to move it out of the way so it can go down my throat. I got postnasal drip running down the back of my nose, I also had an occasional tickle on the left side which got me into embarrassing coughing fits. I thought it was an allergy, maybe perfume, maybe gluten, maybe dust. It was affecting the quality of my life. I felt like a turkey constantly going ah-hum (when not around people) and no matter how many times I do that, it is still there. I wouldn't say it was globus like some people explained they have- my feeling is different, like a thick water blocking my throat and part of my airway, and because I don't want to clear it, I keep it there suffering because I don't want people around me to know I have a problem, and is not at all like food blockage or spasms. Although the doctor thinks I have globus. So many have no clue. It was a nightmare and I just couldn't see myself continuing like this anymore.
Specialists have no explanation to give me and it's like don't come back, learn to live with it...and take a PPI which I refused to continue with because those can kill people.
Never any problems with swallowing, eating, acid, heartburn. Doctors think I have heartburn and of course telling me the usual thing- no coffee, no eating before bedtime.
The thing about
an elevated head while sleeping, well that is no help in my case. I never got mucus when I woke up like many people describe. That is I think more of a Gerd problem. This is LPR which is very different. But doctors try to put both together because they don't know anything else,
I tried everything. Krill, Zantac, St. John's Wort, multi-vitamins, ginger, Licorice-dgl, digestive enzymes, probiotic, glutamine etc. NOTHING works.
So I tried a new technique: Bromelain, Korean red Ginseng, Magnesium, Gotu Kola. I don't know if it is only one or more of these that work but I would need to test it however this has
saved me and wish to share this with people who suffered like me.
80% of my symptoms are gone. I only get the mucus around my voice box right after I eat or drink. Whereas before it was constant and driving me crazy. It has calmed down. Or maybe it naturally subsided and my system is slowly repairing itself from whatever damage the virus did.
Another funny thing I noticed is that when I get a cold, I have no symptoms of LPR for the duration of the cold, and then it comes back and with a vengeance.
I strongly suspect that one severe cold affected something in my upper respiratory tract which is all connected with the nasal passages and throat. I think ENT doctors are NOT doing enough research for this problem because it seems to be an EPIDEMIC. They need to know more about
lungs and nerves. This has nothing to do with weight either like I read somewhere. Skinny or fat people can get this problem.
So if anyone has another natural treatment, please let me know
