PPI s

Hello.I have been taking a PPI ( pantaloc ) for about 10 years.A few years back when this scrare about the long term side effects started I alternated ,one day pantaloc and the next day famotidine (pepcid ).The famotidine must be taken twice a day (half an hour before breakfast and half an hour before dinner.It is very easy to forget the one at night and famotidine does not always work and control the reflux.Lately i have been thinking of taking the pantaloc full time. It is much easier and it works 100 % .I would like to have some feedback from the people who have been on PPI for many years and have not had any serious side effects. Exemple: my sister has been taking a PPI for over 30 years with absolutely no problems and she is now 84 years old.We always hear about the negatives but what about the people who are happy with PPI s and no side effects .Thank you.

Thank you Sharon for your feedback.My doc did not want me to start alternating between the PPI and the Famotidine.He said that he has patients who have been on PPI s for over 30 years with no side effects and some have been taking 2 PPI s per day.When I told him that sometimes ,with the Famotidine i will have to take a couple of tums to help out he told me to stick with the PPI (Pantoloc ).Anyways, I am 72 years old and so far I have had no side effects with the PPI therefore,i will be taking the Pantoloc everyday from now on.P.S. He also informed me that the PPI that i am taking is the one that las the least side effects.
