Nissen Fundo surgery and GERD cough

Hi all, I had Nissen Fundo surgery a week and a half ago for acid reflux and chronic cough. My biggest issue was the chronic cough from my damaged esophagus. Anyway, I still have the cough after surgery so I know it's not being triggered by reflux - I'm wondering how long it took for your cough/throat clearing to get better after surgery? Was it it immediate or did it take a while? I am happy that I no longer have heartburn, but I so want the cough to go away.
