No resolve after gastro scopes

I had a Nissen Fundoplication 28 years ago. No, it was not laparoscopic, lol. I have also had my gallbladder removed. Within the past few years, I have been experiencing really bad heartburn and GERD symptoms again so I was referred to a new gastro Dr in January. I had an upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy earlier this month. The Dr. stated that my wrap (fundo) is still intact, and the scopes were both "good". YET his only resolve is to prescribe medication (insert irritated emoji). Not the answer I was anticipating hearing (insert eye roll emoji). He proceeds to tell me the Nissen Fundoplications are often ineffective (YES! INEFFECTIVE) after 10 years, but yet nothing is wrong with me because my wrap is still intact (insert confused emoji), so WHY exactly am I having a major recurrence of symptoms? How in the heck is this considered to be ok? I do not want to remain on medication for the rest of my life - it eventually becomes ineffective and our bodies become reliant on it, not to mention we build up a tolerance to the medication eventually. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I am extremely aggravated at the moment.
