Nissen Fundoplication surgery during covid pandemic

I spoke to my consultant surgeon back in December 2020, and he advised me at the time surgery during Covid was risky, and could result in major issues if i caught covid during my healing. He said it could be very serious.

Can anyone shed any light on this ? I am double vaccinated but am in a region of high covid rates.

Is there a danger of the wrap becoming loose if you develop a cough from covid ?

Again, these are questions for your medical team. I guess there's always a possibility a bad cough can compromise a wrap. I would be more concerned about dry heaving/vomiting. If you look for potential problems, I'm sure you will find them. Again, please defer to your surgeon.
