Good Evening,
I am so confused about
what is going on and I have questions if others had similar results?
2012 until now...
I had gastritis that turned into esophagitis. I went to see a GI about
it. He put me on 8 week supply of PPI and ever since then I have been through hell.
My esophagus healed, he did an endoscopy, and it came back normal with mild gastritis. I woke up a couple of days later and I started having Post Nasal Drip, sour taste, phlegm in my throat, dry throat and mouth in the morning, water brash, just typical LPR symptoms. Some of these symptoms I do not get so much anymore due to all the damage I have sustained, so I have a new set of symptoms, like a decrease in smell and taste (prior to covid), enlarged tongue, etc.
Ever since then every ent I saw kept telling me oh you have reflux or LPR. I have tried diets, pills, etc. I was finally considering Nissen and I have done all these tests, but the surgeon is second-guessing due to inconsistencies.
Pepsin spit test- showed reflux
All my endoscopies say normal esophagus tissue, mild gastritis
Pharyngeal edema
Muscle Tension Dysphonia
Vocal cords show edema
I have tested for gastroparsis-negative; Tested for impendence- normal LES pressure, but I had a total of 53 episodes of reflux in the 24 HR test. I saw dr cheng from Fauquier ent, he told me I shouldn't be having 1 episode. So, that is why I still think I might still have reflux and that this is not allergies because if it was allergies why I am refluxing as well. I am just confused because one doctor is convinced, others not so much. It spins my head and here I am asking if others had similar test results: Normal Endoscopy, but all reflux symptoms upstairs lol?
The only reason I am asking all this is that some of my doctors keep saying I have allergies and if I did why do I still have a sour taste, and other reflux symptoms. The question I have is: have any of you had normal endoscopy, yet also no history of allergies, but all the symptoms of LPR?
