Had full wrap on Nov 15. Three days post-op I choked on water and coughed hard with bad pain below sternum. Was concerned my wrap was compromised. Surgeon requested another Barium swallow test at two-week mark. Test showed no reflux and wrap intact. My concern was the fact that I still had chest burning and funky taste. They have scheduled a manometry test when I get to the 8-week mark. I am now taking 25mg of a TCA anti-depressant for possible nerve pain. So possibly on top of my positive PH Bravo test showing actual reflux, I may have a hypersensitive esophagus or functional heartburn? Could it be the fact that my esophagus and wrap are just taking more time to heal? My PPI's were not helping my upper gastric pain, but they must have been protecting my esophagus, because scope showed no esophagitis prior to surgery. I also had my gallbladder removed due to pain, sludge, and inflammation during the fundoplication procedure. Gallbladder pain and epigastric pain are gone, but still dealing with mid to upper chest burning. Has anyone else out there had any similar symptoms?
Thanks
JD
