Does Nausea ever go away after fundoplication

I’m 3 months out from fundoplication surgery and feel sicky most days, I’ve read it’s can be a side effect at first but is this something I’m gonna have to live with or does it get better with time?
I attempted two beers recently and felt horribly sick after to the point I thought I was gonna vomit. I’m really hoping this is temporary.

It does get better, although at five years out I still occasionally suffer from bouts of nausea. My surgeon prescribed an anti-nausea medication (Zofran), and it pretty much takes care of any issues. It might make sense for you to get some to keep on hand. At three months, I didn't even think about drinking alcohol.

Maybe I’m eating too much in the morning/ dinner because I’m trying to put some weight back on and as the day goes on I feel sick then especially in evenings.

You should still be eating multiple small meals a day, not just three meals a day. You had major abdominal surgery, you can't force your body to recover more quickly. Call and get the anti-nausea medication.

Thanks Sharon, I’m just fed up of feeling constantly sicky all day and night, I am eating more smaller meals I just hope this passes did you feel sick constantly or did it come and go?

I have had problems since surgery although I have no heartburn I am sure I am still refluxing as my Lpr symptoms are still here ears, voice and burping a lot, a barium showed no reflux but not sure how accurate they are, I’m having a ph impedance again after Xmas to make sure. The surgeon seems to think I might need a redo and I’m not sure I could go through it again, I haven’t been taking ppis for weeks as no heartburn do you think I should go back on for few weeks the surgeon said to try and just take gaviscon advance? I have tried anti sickness pills but I’m nausea all day everyday.

My nausea would come and go. I also had the surgery for GERD, not LPR, as I know that's slightly different. If you decide to discontinue the PPIs, make sure you ask your doctor how to properly wean off of them. Before you consent to a redo, it might make sense to have a second opinion.

Sharon, this may sound like a dumb question, but what would you consider nausea? I haven’t vomited in a very long time, but after my Fundoplication I do get some fullness, stomach pressure that makes my incisions itch and I salivate a bit more after eating along with a mid-chest burn. Granted I’m only 2 months out.

Upset stomach, feeling as if I could vomit. I had a full wrap, and I lost the ability to vomit or belch as I had in the past. The nausea is why I keep the medication with me at all times.

Hi all all your replies are wonderful it make me feel normal knowing I’m not just thinking it’s just me , I have been in contact with my doctor today I have lost over 1stone since my op he’s prescribed more anti sickness meds doing a full blood work and is contacting my surgeon for a scope to be done to see if there’s something he can do to help me so hopefully it will be soon as the nausea is getting out of control now
