omeprazole and side effects

I have only been on omeprazole (20mg in the morning) for 7 days so I may have to be patient but I have been having chills, insomnia, slight fever, throat feels like something's in it and at about 3pm each day I have alot of pain from bottom of sternum to just above belly button. Wondering if symptoms will subside eventually? Will indegestion/heart burn lessen as I still am burping and feeling pain.

If you continue to experience these side effects, have your doctor prescribe another PPI. It may take a while before you notice any subsidence of symptoms. You should also follow a strict GERD-friendly diet, and keep a food diary to try and pinpoint your potential trigger foods.
