Wrap Becoming Undone

I received a full 360 Nissen about 2.5 years ago. It took about 6 months to a year for me to fully feel back to my normal self. It was amazing to have my normal life back.

Unfortunately a few weeks ago I started feeling some minor chest pain and as of a week ago have been experiencing the exact same symptoms I was having before my surgery. I'm worried that my wrap has become undone.

Has anyone experience something similar or had to redo the surgery? I'm hoping that won't be the case but feel like I should schedule an endo to be sure if these symptoms persist.

I'm not sure that your surgeon told you that after having the wrap, you won't be able to belch as you did before your surgery which it sounds like you are experiencing. I'm not a medical professional, but it's unlikely that your wrap has come undone - they are pretty durable. I would take an over the counter Pepcid for a week, to see if that helps. Have you changed anything in your diet, started on a new medication, or are you having any unusual stress/ anxiety going on? These are all possible reasons for the symptoms that you are having. I would call your surgeon and schedule a follow-up appointment to address your concerns. Hi all, when my warp came undone I knew immediately as the pain was very sharp and I started to vomit including blood. The pain was top of the stomach into the side of my chest and I had heart burn. It was something that was unmistakeable and after endoscopy it was discovered to be 50% undone. It all happened at around 12 to 14 months post op and I think it was lifting an awkward and heavy load into a car boot over the lip of the body and at full extension. Anyhow I had a redo in Sept 2012 and I now have reflux again as I suspect it’s coming loose (I was advised by my surgeon they have a 10year life on average for a redo). The difference now to the wrap coming undone is that I have no pain or vomiting and the noticeable effects are heartburn and that feeling that the back of my throat up to my tonsils has a coating on it (the reflux), I also weirdly dream that I am being sick.

Strangely I have at all times been able to burp and my redo was much tighter so I don’t hold with the cannot burp stance but everyone is different.
