I’ve been having GERD for almost 25 years. I’m also a Crohn’s patient. I’ve been taking Nexium 40 mg twice per day for more than 16 years. My GERD has always been either grade A or B LA classification. This last year, namely, November 2022, I failed Remicade, a biologic for Crohn’s after 7 years. After that, I started Stelara, another biologic and failed it, too. Two weeks ago, I started a third treatment, Rinvoq. A couple of days ago, I lost my voice. Saw an ENT doctor and upon examination, he said I have severe GERD. Should I be worried? I already texted my GI but he didn’t recommend something new as I was asking mainly about an antibiotic the ENT doctor had prescribed. I take along with Nexium, Baclofen 10 mg x 3 and famotidine 40 mg before lunch. I never expected my GERD to deteriorate like my Crohn’s. I do of course follow the instructions of GERD and I already can’t eat any spices, chocolate, coffee, tomatoes, or any food in the “forbidden food” list because of my Crohn’s. What else can I add? I can feel that my throat is sore when I swallow.
