I have begun having intermittent referred shoulder pain again 6 months after my partial fundoplication operation. It has already been a difficult recovery for me. Reflux symptoms felt like they were returning a couple months ago, but an EGD showed everything is still intact and fortunately those symptoms have since largely abated. But now the referred shoulder pain is back -- mostly but not entirely left sided -- and my surgeon wants to do all sorts of gallbladder testing on me. I am not really having really any other symptoms, so this feels kind of ridiculous, and much more likely that it is sutures or scar tissue irritating nerves in the diaphragm somewhere. The pain spikes for a half second sometimes when I burp, and it's not like I had this pain ever before the fundoplication surgery. Did anyone else have long-lasting or returning referred shoulder pain after this surgery?
