Hello all!
I usually post on the IBS board, but I am needing your "GERD help"...and I appreciate all of you insight on GERD because I'm new to it.
First of all, I started to have diarrhea/loose stools in mid-March and have had it every day since without 1 normal bowel movement. Talk about worry a girl!
Anyway, I have been through the ringer with test after test, including...colonoscopy, EGD, ultrasound of gallbladder, abdomen and pelvis, CT scan of abdomen and pelvis, hida scan of gall bladder, a number of stool cultures, urinalysis, blood tests, etc. The only thing ght Gastrointerologist "found" was GERD while performing my EGD. He showed me a picture of my lower esophogas with the irritation and it looked like a "red line" shooting upwards...didn't look too long, but it was not a very big picture. ANyway, he said it wouldn't be causing my diarrhea, but I still had GERD, nevertheless. End result, my GI doctor said I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) with diarrhea and not to come back for a year. I still have the diarrhea problem DAILY.
Here's my concern. Since this so called IBS-D started, I have been burping a lot after eating (when have an appetite, having diarrhea everyday does something to your appetite). I also have a feeling of fullness in my stomach that goes up to my mid chest. It's like I feel like I am going to vomit but I never do. I don't feel nauscious all day...In fast, I wouldn't call this feeilng nauscious...I'd call it a full feeling that goes up my esophagas.
Is this normal for GERD??? I dn't know much about it...just that it is an acid problem and it backflows into your esophagus causing irritation. Can IBS-D and GERD be related? I just need some comforting words. I am so worked up and worried about all of this. Which reminds me to ask, can stress effect GERD too??
Thank You!
