Hi sillylilly. I've pretty much avoided conventional medicine as much as I can with my situation. I've been having acupuncture treatments and just using some supplements, and mainly being careful with the diet. My reflux problem is as a result of a leaky gut I've been diagnosed with, so I've got more than an acidy stomach and throat to contend with. But since I've been avoiding all fried, fatty, oily, and fermented foods, I've been feeling a whole lot better. I'm not allowed any grains or sweets right now either. The digestive enzymes really help my sluggish digestive system. I've also been using l-glutamine to heal my stomach and gut with, which has made a huge difference. Taking supplements are still a challenge tho. I tried taking my calcium today and it really upset my stomach. But otherwise the acid production has really slowed down. I'm pretty much shocked now when I can eat a meal...and no knock-down symptoms arise. I've also noticed it's made a huge difference drinking alot of water. If I'm feeling a little dehydrated then the throat thing starts up again. All in all it's not any one thing I've done that's made the only difference. It seems to take a little of this and that and it works together somehow. One thing I would highly recommend tho is that you do check your pH. Mine is becoming very alkaline again so I don't think it's any coincidence that the acid is lessening...and I'm feeling more human again.
That's it in a nutshell really. No miracle cure. But I hope that maybe something I'm doing may help you, also. Everyone is different, so you might benefit from a little of this and a little of that from several people. Try things and see what works for you. That's pretty much what I've done and things are improving for the better. Just be patient tho...it seems there's always gotta be a little setback here or flare-up there along the way. But that doesn't mean you're not getting better. I think it's just the body's way of healing itself.
Good luck sillylilly...I truly hope you find some relief for yourself, too.
