feeling or sensation of throat closing

im a 33 year old male. Since friday i have been getting this feeling in my throat off and on all day. It feels as maybe a spasm or something. I cant attribute it to anything other than maybe gerd, although anxiety could be a factor but it happens more when i swallow so i believe it is something physical. But i havent eaten anything really since friday. When it does happen, it usually sends me into a full blown panic attack. Its the area below my adams apple, the soft spot in the throat/neck area. My gastroencologist cant get me in until friday, im really scared and worried as i have no idea what it is or whats causing it. Has anyone else ever experienced this? if so what have you done or did do to help it? Thank you very much

I've woken up a couple of times during the night, where it feels like someopne has completely blocked off my throat at the area you describe - I sat bolt upright and gulped some air, then layed back down and was ok. It was completely isolated - not part of a panic attack or anything - and settled down immediately afterwards.

Not sure if I have GERD as such, but my doctor has diagnosed me with 'acid reflux problems' as a result of recent chest pains.
