Hello and Sorry in advance for any language mistakes


I was wondering if this is the cause of my reflux also. Everything started last May after a surgery for ovarian cyst. Specifically, luteal cyst rupture happened to me.

After the surgery I was fine, but I was prescribed antibiotics for approximately ten days. After finishing the antibiotics this nightmare of reflux suddenly began.

All this time I believed that it was due to the heavy antibiotics but I also worry that maybe my reflux is correlated with my hormones.

My period after surgery is lighter and shorter and I have noticed that the symptoms of reflux is worst during these days.

Do you believe that is there a correlation? during my Internet Research, I found out that LES muscle relaxes when there are hormonal imbalances especially in a woman's body. I have done an hormonal blood check and I am going to visit my gynecologist next week in order to explain me the results

I am quite depressed, I am only 30 years old and i have no quality of life due to this problem. Sth is wrong with my body after the surgery

ps The doctor who did the surgery didn't prescribed me contraceptive pills in order to regulate my period. And I read that many doctors do that in similar cases.

Yeah, my mom and MIL never had issues like I'm having when they went through peri. This reflux won't go away, and that gives me awful anxiety. I don't know which came first! I did experience a very stressful 2 years when my husband went back to finish his degree a few years ago, and that's when this all started, but I've been having shorter and heavier cycles for the past year and I notice the reflux is worse the week before and during it. It feels like the hormones won't allow me to get over this even when I try to do everything right. I even went vegan for a couple of months. The meds don't help, and I tried natural supplements without success as well. I have burning mostly in my throat on the left side that can travel into my sinuses and up into my left ear. It feels like an earache that can spread to my head, neck and shoulder in the left side. I also get burning in my stomach too. The anxiety I get over the possibility that I'm doomed to get cancer from all of this only makes symptoms worse. I'm considering calling for an anti anxiety med. If only I knew this would all clear up after Peri, but so many of you are still battling even after it.

I had not really related my acid reflux to my perimenopuase until today. My peri symptoms started a few years ago around 45-46 years old(now 48), I had hot for about a year and they have since stopped(for now). They were up to every 20 minutes lasting for about 10 minutes- it was annoying but tolerable. I have pain in my left ovary- my nurse practitioner says my ovaries are working TOO HARD since they are starting to shut down. I was relieved for that explanation instead of cysts or cancer. Just this last week though I have had really bad indigestion and acid reflux along with loose stool. I figured it was GERD because my dad has it and I have been becoming sensitive to all acidic foods over the last 10 years, coffee and certain carbs, along with any type of peanut butter, soynut butter, almond butter(really any type of toast spread). I have slowly cut out all fruits, nuts, alcohol, coffee (now tea), tomatoes (any acidic food) begrudgingly chocolate and certain carbs that will set of the reflux. I sleep propped up as well but nothing seems to help it now.
I have not had to use medication since avoiding these foods avoids the problem just some ginger ale and it goes away but now that isn't working. However this last week it has flared up so much ANYTHING I eat flares it up. Seems water and vanilla yogurt are the only things I can eat without a problem. Again thinking it was probably just GERD on its own I never related it to perimenopause until today. It makes so much sense. Meeting with my Dr. on Friday to confirm and rule out anything else.
I am so glad I happened on this forum. I know preimenopause and menopause cause drastic changes to our bodies but it is nice to have confirmation that it isn't just me and I am not going crazy.

Hello all. I am so glad to read all of your posts to see that I am not alone. I am 52 and I started going through menopause at 40. I have been done for about ten years. I never experienced reflux or even indigestion before menopause, but since then it has been an on-going battle. I am on two different types of medication, and take pro and prebiotics everyday but still developed Barrett's esophagus because of this. I can't eat ANYTHING! After reading these posts and an article I found a couple of months back, I'm starting to think there is a direct correlation between estrogen levels and GERD. I mentioned this to my doctor and she thought I was crazy. I am going to do more digging and try to find another doctor who will listen. I will keep you all posted.

TOTAL RELIEF FOR MENOPAUSAL AILMENTS
