Hi Liddial -
Mind if I ask...how long have you been taking the Vit D3? Since 2015? I won't do a PPI either. The side effects are very bad. I did take an H2 blocker for about
4 months, and really didn't notice much of a difference on that. I'm trying to NOT take anything stronger than Tums or Mylanta. I've been on the acid reflux diet for quite a while.
After doing some research, I also was wondering if there was some kind of correlation between vitamin D deficiency and the gastritis/acid reflux/gerd I've been experiencing over the past couple years. I think it's possible there could be. about
3 weeks ago, I had blood work done and my doc discovered my Vit D level was well below optimum level. I started supplementing with 4000-5000IU per day to raise my level. From what I've read, it can take months to raise. I figured it couldn't hurt. I also started taking extra Vit B12 too. It's probably too soon for me to notice any difference extra D3 makes for the gastritis, but I sure hope it helps my gut heal. I've never had trouble sleeping, so the D3 won't change that. The only thing I've seen, is to not take Vit D3 too late in the day because it can disrupt sleep. It affects the Melatonin level in your body.
Very nice to hear from someone who found something that actually seems to be working for them! Kudos to you!!
