I started Prilosec this week - it's been a few days. It seems to be helping, but I've noticed I have also starting having big time gas! I normally don't have gas like this - I feel like I could power my house for heavens sake! tongue

Is this a common side effect? If so, may I assume it will eventually subside once my system adjusts? I have changed nothing else - I even stopped taking the Maalox (I think I was eating way too many). It's quite uncomfortable and well, a bit embarrassing as well. :-)

All medication have some kind of side effect. I was taking nexium and it gave me severe constipation and blurred abnormal vision. Starrnr I will give u a link to a web-site that has lots of info on medicaton and their side effects http://www.askapatient.com.

Prilosec can definately cause excessive gas. To my knowlledge, there is nothing you can do other than decreaseing, or stopping the medication. Unless you maybe ask your doctor about a gas pill, like gas x or something? NOt sure though.

Thanks Tammy, now I can quit wondering what's going on! I'm guessing the gas will eventually calm down (hoping anyway). In the meantime, I'll just gurgle along! Thanks again.
