Feels like I've been punched in the gut

I was diagnosed with GERD about two months ago. At one time the doctor had also said something about a hiatal hernia but she never wrote it on a diagnosis sheet.

The last few days, I've had abdominal pain. Right below the bottom of my breast bone. It literally feels like someone punched me in the gut.

There is no burning sensation or anything like that.

I called my doctor yesterday and she said it was most likely a bug that is going around- along with the GERD that I already have. But this doesn't feel like a bug to me.

I'm just wondering what you think about this. Could it have something to do with the hiatal hernia she sort-of dianosed me with?

She told me to call her again in a week or so if I wasn't feeling any better. I'm just not convinced she's right on this one. Any input?
