Best Prescription Med for Psoriasis?

My son's doc gave us some tiny sample tubes of Taclonex for his knees and the stuff worked like a charm. He had a baseball sized outbreak on one knee that disappeared within 3 days of starting the Taclonex. He rubbed a tiny bit on his knee and the difference by morning was amazing. I didn't think you could heal that fast from anything. Whenever his psoriasis flared up, he'd use the Taclonex - he never had to use it more than three times each flare.

The side effects scared me a lot, especially the long term ones (adrenal suppression), but since he didn't have to use it often and he didn't need to use much, I felt better about it. Plus, once I read the side effects of some of the other psoriasis meds, it didn't seem too much scarier than them.

Unfortunately, it's very expensive and our insurance won't pay for it. His last sample expired months ago. The Taclonex samples worked so well and lasted so long (because he only needed a tiny bit) that we never filled the prescription for the other ointment that the doc prescribed. Fortunately, his outbreaks have been coming further and further apart so he may not need anything for a while.

It worked well for my son but I don't know how well it worked for others.

My husband has used Clobetasol with some success, but when he's in a bad flare, the only thing that works is oral prednisone. He started at 60 mg per day for a week and tapered slowly over several weeks down to 10 mg, but had to go back up to 20 mg because his skin flared up again at 10 mg. He has a severe case, though, so if your psoriasis is mild you probably don't want to go on oral prednisone.

IM THE SAME AS MIKE IVE TRIED IT ALL! NOTHING HAS EVER TOUCHED IT.IT STARTED ON MY SCALP AT AGE 8 IT ISNT ON MY HANDS OR FEET BUT IT IS EVERYWHERE ELSE AND NOTHING HAS STOPPED IT OR HELPS. IN DESPERATION I LET A DR. PUT ME ON METHATREXATE CYCLE ( IM GETTING THE RHUMITOID ARTHRITIS THAT GOES WITH PSORIASIS) FOR 30 DAYS. IT MADE MY HAIR FALL OUT AND NOW I HAVE IT IN MY BUTT CRACK AND PRIVATES AS A RESPONSE TO THIS TREATMENT. IM 46 NOW AND NOTHING EVEN MAKES IT STOP ITCHING ANYMORE. I CANT HARDLY SLEEP. IT ONLY GETS WORSE EACH YEAR! MAN LET ME KNOW HOW THE PSORIATANE WORKS. IM BEYOND DESPERATE. IM GOING INSANE.

i have been having psoriasis for 41 years since i was 2 mnths old.  i have tried evrything from cremes to oinments.  about 2 years a i went to a new dr. that put me on cyclosporine.  this med has dramatically changed my life and i no longer suffer from chronic psoriasis, it is now barley noticible.  i am amazed at the change.  it is like starting a new life.  do anyone have is positive or negative opinions on this med.
