Strange face rash I have had for over 10 years

Im hoping that somebody on here might have a clue what condition it is that I might have. This has been driving me crazy for a very long time.

I am a 31yr old male and I used to have severe normal teenage acne from the age of 13 but when I was about 20 this changed and the acne became more cystic and I also started getting a terrible rash all over my face.
The rash is extremely sore with a burning sensation and has constantly been all over my face now for 10 years. The only way to desribe it is as different shaped dry patches which appear all over my face, not just in one certain area, though they do seem to be worse more often next to my nose, on my cheeks and just above my eyebrows.

I have tried nearly every product going over the years and changed my diet etc but nothing works, just aggravates it, even washing in water makes it worse leading to the patches get even redder and new ones appearing. I have searched the net but nothing looks similair.

My skin always looks leathery, red and blotchy and feels itchy and sore all the time. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions that would be great!

Have you seen a dermatologist? The images that you posted are sort of hard to see. Have you ever been treated for Ringworm?

Thanks for the reply Sherry! sorry I didnt realise the pics where so small so here are some bigger ones that you can see clearly. I forgot to mention that my body has also started breaking out in rashes as well recently, mainly my back, chest and waist. Though this is slightly different to the patches on my face, these are more raised. I have just had one come up on my back so have just taken a photo and also put a link to that below.

Ive actually been very silly and ive kept putting off seeing a dermotologist till now, I have now booked an appointment but have to wait 2 weeks to see him. Ive always been embarrassed of the condition and chosen to pretend it doesnt exist to get through each day which is crazy in hindsight, but now it seems to be getting worse with age so it needs sorting for my own sanity.

Oh wow, you poor dear! That back rash looks super itchy! Personally to me that looks like an allergic reaction, raised hives.

As for your face, that can be almost anything. From atopic dermatitis, Rosacea, psoriasis, eczema to allergic reactions. It's good that you are finally going to see a derm. Do you have "silvery" skin patches that flake and itch? I have psoriasis along my hairline which is now controlled by an immune suppressing medication that I take for another health condition. But I would get itchy, scaly, raised round silvery patches that would drive me nuts! And of course, you are not supposed to itch but sometimes it's so hard. The more I itched, the more it spread. When you see the derm, please come back and let us know what he/she says okay?

That last pic of your back - I would say it is definately Urticaria - look it up. i've suffered with it for 2 and a half years now and it is making my life hell :(

Sorry for the late reply but im on wifi and my internet has been terrible!

Thanks a lot Sherry, I really do appreciate the help! I managed to get in to see a dermotologist a few days ago and he says it is probably Urticaria like you said unhappyhen, he said I also have acne so he has put me on antibiotics for that and an amphetamine for the Urticaria and to see how that goes.
Though there is no change in my face I so far havnt had another rash on my body for the last few days as of yet, so im just keeping my fingers crossed that it is the amphetamines working as it has been a relief not to constantly be itching.
Have you been to see a dermotologist unhappyhen?

I have dry places myself that came about two years ago...I put different crerams on them (the areas just in front of my ears. It bugs me and I hopew it does not get worse. There is a young Mexican guy that runs around town and his face looks like an explosion ...I loooked into some ph treaments and found out that Braggs (it has to be this kind (brand name) APPLE CIDAR VINEGAR that UN FILTERED. Is good for nuetralizing the ph balance in your skin. My brother says that nerves can play into it and that a vitamin called NIACIN (take only a quarter piece at a time) is good for healing aND TREATING NERVES. I DO know that a crack running down the center of your tongue denotes a vitamin deficiency. But the cidar is good for you both inside and out.

hi i was a hygienist so i know a bit about oral pathology... the vit. deficiency is from pernicious anemia... B-12 and it can be painful at times. Folic acid can also be a slight deficiency that shows in the tongue. Cider i believe is high in folic acid ... i crave apple juice and have burning tongue... (lupus and tons of other crap) I would get a metabolic panel ran... make sure you don't have some type of auto immune problem going on secondary to your primary problem. Esp with all the rashes... just to be sure.

for the uticaria, have they tried a steriod treatment or done eliza test for allergies? I would ask for these things to be done.... just a thought. good luck to u guys and gals with rashes i get them from lupus on my face , sometimes chest and back but they never look like allergic reactions.
