I have not tried occlusion (never heard of it) the dermatologist game me some cortisone cream but it so greasy, it does slowly dry up the pustules. Your right, winter seems to be worse and I am having a major breakout now, I am too embarrased to even get a manacure !

I would love to be in remission :(

Chotti, I am so sorry you are going through this! Hope you find some relief soon. I bought the Psoriasin and cotton gloves and am going to try this first so wish me luck

Thanks Chotti, you are a treasure trove of information! You should apply for the moderator position for P. I am drying out and scabbing right now which is pretty ugly too but trying to keep moisturized and it would be nice for it to be gone by Christmas as we have company coming :)
As I said, the hardest part is keeping out of water as I love long hot baths!

I've got pustular psoriasis as well. I've been very luck to only have it on my feet (although it did get quite bad during one period), and on my left ankle right now. I had a bout of plaque psoriasis on my left elbow not long ago and I had an article pointed out to me:

It talks about B.infantis being very beneficial for psoriasis. I've only used it for one month (several months ago) and it really helped my psoriasis. I really should get on it again because of the spot on my ankle now, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried this and what results they may have had?

I'm so sorry to hear about you having to deal with Dupytrends Contracture. It sounds incredibly painful.

Well, I have to admit that I'm not only new to the world of psoriasis (at least in understanding that's what I have), but I haven't done a bunch of reading on it yet.

Although I do have arthritic pain, it's hard for me to know what's causing it. I have had late stage chronic Lyme and Lyme arthritis, arthritic issues increased in my hands when my fingernails did that funky thing from psoriasis (psoratic arthritis?), and my Mom has osteoarthritis and has had both knees replaced.

Yes, I do know that herbs are very strong and can affect any part of the body and/or it's functioning. I couldn't tolerate antibiotics to treat my tick-borne infections, so I turned to herbs and holistic healing. Fro my psoriasis, my doc gave me some healing salve, an anti-itch combination of herbs and I used the B.infantis for one month. As I said, my issues are fairly mild, so I haven't had to go through what most do - but I'm also hoping to avoid going through that!!

Most of my pain is controlled by a mix of herbs that my practitioner made up for me that is called "4.8 arthritis formula", but I can't find it anywhere on the internet. I do have the list of the 13 herbs that are in it though. I use the 4.8 formula, turmeric, ginger, and Bromelain, with occasional use of naproxen or aspirin.

And I so agree that lowering or shutting down the immune system is NOT the way to deal with things!

I was diagnosed with pustule psoriasis after my first child was born via c-section in Summer 2012. I'd already been managing Hypothyroidism (another autoimmune disease) with thyroid meds. I struggled with the dry, itchy skin on my own for months until I asked the doctor for help. At first, it was worst on my hand. It looked like I fell roller blading and got road rash on the heel of my hand. People would exclaim, "Oh, dear! What happened?". The dermatologist sent me home with the steroid ointment and not much else. She gave me no education about the chronic disease, how it can progress or how to manage the skin. We had a second baby shortly after the first and another c-section delivered our second baby in Fall 2013. This back-to-back pregnancy plus the winter that has followed severely flared my psoriasis symptoms. It's spread to both hands & feet plus most everywhere else in smaller patches. I also have achy joints that I'm sure is some form of arthritis.

From reading this forum, I now understand considerably more about this chronic condition. Thanks for the support and education! It has given me perspective. Beyond my 2 c-section procedures, while juggling the two young kids, we moved to a new home a few weeks ago. The stress has taken a toll on my body and the psoriasis has been painful. It's worse on my hands and feet. The skin peels back and it's almost like a 2nd or 3rd degree burn - it's so very sensitive. The skin breaks open like chapped skin and it's like one big cut with tiny cuts on my palms and bottoms of my feet. My hands are constantly in the water prepping meals, cleaning up or washing hands after diaper changes. I've started wearing rubber gloves. The coconut oil keeps the skin on my hands fairly smooth and clear so I've been using it on my feet too. The psoriasis patches have appeared on my scalp and various other body parts in smaller patches. I'm starting to treat it with tea tree oil based on the suggestion above from Chotti.

The ideal solution is to reach remission as described above. I'm trying a combination of steroid ointment, coconut oil for moisturizer and eating well. I've started juicing in the past 4 weeks in order to add more fruits & veggies to my diet. I'm currently nursing my son, which I'm not clear if that helps or burdens my immune system. In the past week, I've added B12 and Fish Oil supplements.

I would suggest occlusion over nite treatment for a week .
U will see improvement in just a few days..

P. Has been in my treatment for 50 years. This is my experience to put P. In remission without drugs. Occlusion with coal tar Psoriasin is a good OTC product will give u immediate relief .

Here a few techniques that will help.. U need deligence, persistence & patients. It works.

1)Sunshine vitamin - D treatments for short times then build up slowly never allow the skin to burn.
2) clobex get rid of it all than maintain with dovanex and clobex.
3)50-50 mix NON- alcohol witch hazel mix with glycerine in spray bottle.. Witch hazel is a anti inflammation glycerine stops the itch.
4) Any product OTC at most drug stores with coal tar in it.
Coal tar has been known for treating p. The best for years. Treat
Over night with occlusion.
5) Treat P. Areas with occlusion using heavy skin creams it Eucerin..
Even Vaseline..
6) TPlus shampoo for P. Put it in UR bath,treat P. Areas with overnight with occlusion.
7) Dovobet ointment
8) Traditional topical treatment includes tar,salicylic acid and corticosteroids..and used in Combinations.
9) google the NATIONAL PSORIASIS FOUNDATION for more information.
10) Keep UR skin cool and inflammation down. Eat icecream cool foods , cold slushy smoothies all help with body swelling associated with P. Ice the areas and take OTC meds for inflammation . Reciently studies have found .
11) Itching - OTC Zurtec it's a antihistamine.
12) scratching can lead to infection always treat P. ASAP.

CHOTTI, Well here I am again :( The corticosteroids didn't work so I have been doing the occlusion with coal tar and that set it off worse (up most of the night with itching and burning) Have been using Eucerin and Benadrill for relief.

Still can't get in to see a dermatologist until Oct., feeling very frustrated :( I have been reading about Dermalex and wondering if that might help, found it on Amazon for approx. $50.00!

Would love any info on this :)
