I was reading up on the benefits of eating certain foods for general health when I discovered that Olives have anti inflammatory properities.
I have had mild psoriasis on my elbow, knees, butt crack and scalp for about 5 years.
I have tried all the prescribed stuff, which works as a bandaid solution.
For the past week I have been dabbing olive oil on my psoriasis with a cotton bud once or twice a day.
The inflammation went down almost straight away and the plaque seems to be disappearing.
All that remains as a very thin FLAT layer of plaque and a slight redness where it used to be heavily inflamed.
It's no longer itchy and I'm half confident it might clear up.
Im not self conscious or embarassed about my psoriasis, in fact I shave my head to get sun exposure and also makes it easier to manage the plaque. Sure I get asked what wrong with my skin, but it does not bother me at all, in fact I find it amusing because everyone seems to have their own remedy even if they have no idea what it is. "Yeah sure ill let your grandmother spit on wheat grains and prick my skin".
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any feedback specifically related (OLIVE OIL) to this topic.

I too use it on my one elbow that gets really thick. So far this has worked better than anything my dr has tried me on. Mine were terribly thick at one time & becoming infected under all the thick skin. The olive oil really has helped.
Take care.

Hi, I'm listed as a new member, but actually have been on the forum since 2009. so welcome. My experience with Psoriasis is this: First of all, I actually got mine from having a pedicure, and the guy using the emory stick, practically fell asleep while he did my heel. This caused trauma to my heel, and that is the only place I have ever had it. (for that I am blessed and as I read some of these posts, I feel so sorry for those with horrible cases). I had mine biopsied and it is Pustular Psoriasis, makes little blister like things and then they pop after I spray them with Skin Solution zinc spray. This causes them to open faster and then form a scab and eventually they fall off and I'm good to go for a while.
I know we are all different and what works for one, doesn't work for the other. I have found that whipping cream and eggs are culprits. I have, like you all, tried every cream on the market and a couple of the less expensive prescription ointments. They will all work for a while, and then like someone said, if you have autoimmune diseases, (which P, is) then it turns against you. My best success has been coconut oil, when that stops, I go to a mixture of olive oil/peanut oil, half and half. they work the best. Plus soaking my foot in epsom salts, or dead sea salts. I pray you can all find something that works and check your diet. God bless you all, lele77

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum too!
I've been suffering from Psoriasis for several years now, don't know where it came from but I couldn't get rid of it. I got some creams from my doctor, but they didn't really work. I started using aloe vera gel for my skin during sun exposure and found that it started curbing my psoriasis, so I continued using it and it completely cleared it up!!! I applied it twice per day in the affected areas and more. I've also found my skin is in much better condition. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it's cheap to try out. I hope this helps you too.

Sorry but I have not tried olive oil though. But if it really works, I'll keep that in mind. It might be of help in the future.

I have gallstone and scalp psoriasis. I'm a big fan of alternative health and hence, I always look upon diet changes to manage my health problems. I use extra virgin olive oil as a dietary food to get rid of gallstone and as a body detox food as well. I believe that accumulated body toxins play a role in psoriasis. Hence, extra virgin olive oil is good- pure, non filtered, raw form of olive oil.
Also, I use warm olive oil massage at night occasionally to relieve scalp psoriasis symptoms.

I agree that coconut oil has a positive effect on the health of the skin. Maybe it will not cure psoriasis completely from your skin but it can be improved. I have not tried but definitely try olive oil. Thank you!
