Hi everybody. I have NEVER participated in being on a forum so help.
I am writing because I am so frustrated and upset about my Husband's rash which he has been battling for about 10 years. He has seen many doctors who have not really given him a diagnosis. However, there was one distinguished, excellent doctor who called it RIBS, red itchy bump symdrome. He saw private patients and taught at a medical universtiy. He recommended the use corticosteroids on the skin and hydroxyzine and antihhistamines by mouth.
At this moment his skin is in better condition because he took a course (4 weks) of prednisone . He has taken it before but rash returns when he stops it. He has been off of it for a week and no rash.
Whe this rash is present , he gets in the scratch itch syndrome and has had some staph. infections. Poor guy, he is absolutely miserable when he has the rash. It was beginnig to affect his ability to live a normal or even somewhat normal life--terrible.
Does anybody now about this syndrome and who , what, or if anybody can help.
Thanks, Leeson
