stress psoriasis

Hello Ian and welcome aboard. I am not a dr but I will tell you that everything I have read and what my drs have all told me, psoriasis is an auto-immune disease and stress will not cause it. However, stress can trigger an outbreak. When I am stressed my outbreaks really hit me hard. There are a lot of triggers for outbreaks and yes, stress is one of them.

With the cancer situation you are not a candidate for any of the biologics like Humira or Enbrel because cancer is a potential side effect of those drugs. Other than trying various ointments, I think the UV treatment is going to be your only choice.I have not had a lot of success with various ointments except the ones with steroids but repeated use of those causes the skin to thin and I do not need that on top of everything else.

I hope you can get started back on the UV, my dermatologist was considering this for me. My problem is when the psoriasis gets out of control and hits my feet, I end up with cellulitis infections in my legs and in the hospital on IV antibiotics. Its a real battle for sure.

Ian, I forgot to tell you about something different that I am trying on the plague psoriasis that I have on my elbows and arms, olive oil, lol. I really have a thick plague on my right elbow, much, much worse than the left, a friend of mine husband has it and he uses Enbrel but takes vacations from it from time to time. He started using olive oil and could see a difference. I thought well why not give it a try and sure enough I do believe it is helping somewhat, lol. Maybe I will have some soft skin on the elbows one day. Now that I am doing this I see olive oil added to lotions and bath soaps now. Another interesting thing is the psoriasis hits the right side of my body much worse than the left, always has. None of my drs can give me an explanation either, they have no idea.

So am I. I am wondering if left handed people get more psoriasis on the left leg etc- It was just my old mind thinking
