H1N1 vaccination while on Remicade

Hello Michele & welcome to the forum. I am sorry to read what happened with you however, you have been given some bad information I am afraid. It is perfectly safe to receive the flu shot while on Remicade or Humira. The flu shot is not a live virus therefore it is perfectly safe. A person cannot have a live virus shot while on these drugs, so there is a difference.

The ER dr was correct and knew what he/she was talking about. I use to not get the flu shots because I was afraid I would get sick. I developed lung problems & was told if I got the flu the possibility of dying was extremely high due to my lungs. All of my drs insisted I get the flu shot so I cratered and did it. I have not ever got sick from the shot while on either of these drugs. My gi dr had me on these drugs for crohns disease & he assured me it was perfectly safe to get the flu shot that because of crohns I needed the flu shot.

I have asked many, many drs why people get sick from the flu shot and this is what all of them have told me. People that get sick from the shot are already getting sick and the symptoms have not presented themself. It is not flu shot making them sick.
