UVB- light therapy or special lasers for Psoriasis is the standard for treating Plaque and Palmoplanter Psoriasis-PPP.
Also Psoriason cream-Coal Tar , DMSO , Salicylic acid, VIT-A creams and moisturizers all OTC, just to name a few. There are also many herb creams for P which are very effective.
Occlusion- especially good for feet and hands-PPP. I alternate with steroid cream treatments and OTC topicals listed above. Ask you doctor if the type of steroid cream you have can be used with occlusion.
Topical treatments can be occluded (or covered) over night for 2-3 consecutive nights to increase their effectiveness and the amount absorbed into the skin. With occlusion, the topical is applied to the psoriasis plaques and or PPP areas and then the area is covered with plastic wrap, cellophane, waterproof dressing, cotton socks , moisturizer gloves. I have had good results with occlusion for many years.
The trick is to begin treatment early and avoid repetitive movements where deep fissures occur or folds in skin.
Always check with your health care provider before occluding treatments. It’s important to keep P areas clean. In some cases infections and yeast can enter the exposed P areas and spread P faster. In most cases your derm can take a skin analysis to check for other pathogens that may enter the open P areas exposed to air and water. Keep P areas out of water which is usually the main culprit that causes P infections and or for P to spread. There are pathogens and other chemicals in water that irritate P.
The list includes a few treatments that has helped my P over many years.
The biggest complication in my experience is water on P areas. Instead use skin washes OTC for P.
Also diet low salt , low sugar, low carbs. Some people with P are effected by foods in the night shade family ...strawberries , potatoes, tomatoes.
I have never had foods effect my P but it’s worth a mention because some gut issues can effect P in some cases. Also very effective is a anti-inflammatory diet.
Psoriasis is a autoimmune disease and there is no cure, but thankfully there are many different treatments available for psoriasis which can manage this disease in most cases.
