Tendon releases tomorrow

I've been off my Mobic for a week now, and my hands and feet feel like they were run over by a truck. Good times!

At least this time I don't have to have general anesthesia, so should be home by late afternoon.

I just saw your post. It didn't say what tendon you are having released.  Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in for what it's worth.  I had a tendon release done on my heal for plantar facitis (sorry about the spelling). Anyway it was the best thing I ever did.  After enduring several really painful cortisine injections in the bottom of my heal, that was the only left to try.  Just thought you might want to hear a success story.  Good luck  take care

what is a tendon release? am not doing well with my foot. pain pain pain i have tendonitis.

I had trigger fingers. They make an incision in the palm of the hand and open the connective tissue sheath around the tendons partially so they won't catch and the fingers won't "stick."

This was an easy one for me. I had no pain at all, just a little soreness in my fingers and palm. I have my full range of motion back now, and just a bit of soreness left.

I just saw this, was interested to see how you did. I had a tendon release done for plantar fasciitis and it didn't work for me. I ended up having a lot of symptoms elsewhere in my body later on and they diagnosed me with reactive arthritis, they said the plantar fasciitis was because of the arthritis all along.

I am still taking Mobic, without it my stupid foot hurts like crazy! But I'm glad the surgery worked for you.

o my this is very scarey stuff...i want to hide under my bed but if i did i would be able to get up again (lol)

will be getting my mri on wednesday and talking with the doc on the next wednesday

Yes, it was general anesthesia for the foot surgery. It was very painful afterward and I was supposed to stay off the foot. I stayed home from work for about 2 weeks. Had my foot wrapped for a few months afterward.

well, anyway, the reason it didn't really work for me (if I understand things correctly) is because i have arthritis throughout my body. The podiatrist should have tested me for arthritis BEFORE the surgery. He said something to me after. I knew nothing at the time about diagnosing arthritis, I thought since I had had x-rays and an MRI that would have told them something. Well, no, it was a blood test I needed.

my foot actually hurts in kind of a different way. Before the surgery, I would kind of walk on my toes when I got out of bed, but now I walk on my heel with my toes sticking up (just when I first get out of bed). My foot looks different, there is a big space now between the big toe and the 2nd toe. Well, I have no idea what any of that means, other than the insurance company and I probably wasted our money.

The podiatrist has said physical therapy won't help me and the rheumatologist is really only recommending it as sort of a sports medicine thing.

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare anyone. I was just looking to see what others' experiences were with such surgery. I met a 60ish man at the gym who said he has had plantar fasciitis for like 25 years and he just lives with it. He looked very fit, so I guess it's not the worst thing you could have wrong with you.

 This is the first post for me on this topic but I realize after reading all your posts my tendon problems in my hands as well as my foot(posterior tib tendonitis) is very painful, especially when I get up in the a.m.! Wore a black boot cast for 4/5 weeks then a brace on the foot.  P.T. for 2 months. I still have pain and have to be very careful how I exercise, walk stairs, do any physical endeavor!! Now I am rubbing Topricin in every night but it doesnt seem to be doing anything.  Don't want to take too much ibuprofin as I have very very sensitive stomach, gerds, IBS, hiatis hernia.... Anybody have this tendon problem.?? Help..........., Dancinheart

25 years, i know! that poor man. you'd think it would go away on its own.

I just sit on my butt all the time at work, it's possible i injured the foot when I was trying to get back into running. but the rheumatologist seems to think that the real reason is this illness (reactive arthritis) and the pf is just one of the symptoms.

i like this forum because it's the only place i can complain. i don't really talk about my illness with people at work or my relatives.
