Osteoarthritis Fingers,Thumb and Erosive

The last time I had an Xray of my fingers it showed erosive arthritis but the latest Xray didnt state erosive arthritis.

Does it come and go erosive OA? This is the latest Xray

As you can see left little finger has no cartlidge left

My GP Dr is away this week and just happened to get the Xray done whilst he was on leave.

Ye I thought also if you have erosive OA its always there.

I did see a Rhumetologist  about a year ago and he told me Erosive OA is the severe form.

I wonder also if it was the same Radiologist as we moved and have my old Xrays packed away somewhere ! I think he  omitted mentioning the erosive part

Bit of an  update.

I found my old Xrays from Jan 2009 and not too bad showed OA in fingers

Xrays : July 2009 now mentions Erosive arthritis. So I then remembered  I had gone  to the Rhuematologist  as it appeared more severe quickly and he agreed it was erosive  OA

Xray Feb 2011 fingers had gotten worse , esp little left finger but no mention of Erosive OA but referes to Jan 2009 report only and doesnt mention July 2009 report

So I rung up the administartion office of the Xray business and told them the Radiologist missed comparing July 2009 Xrays.

They agreed she should have and are going to get another radiologist to review the scans.

IE comparing July 2009 Xray with Feb 2011 Xrays

I was a bit annoyed the radiologist missed the July 2009 Xrays as I was told by the admin the scans are online for the Radiologist.

Also been doing some research and if you have a look at my Xray at the link I gave you can see my little left finger.  OA is in both the joints and it has an appearance of a sawtooth (Jagged) edge and what I can gather is that is  a sign of Erosive OA.

Another update !

I had to ring the Admin again and say  "I am waiting on new report if you cant give it to me I will get my Dr to ring you "

The report was done the next day !

I have to go and pick it up from the GP. So havent seen it yet

I have made an appointment with my Rhuemy but cant get in till june so hoping for an earlier appointment. I wrote a short letter to him and basically asked some questions (to see if I can get some advice before June)

More research I have found is:

OA symptoms

Sawtooth erosions (note photo of my left little finger)

Joints then can lock up/ stiffen . My left little finger has no cartlidge left and it cant bend anymore

E OA found in DIP (tips of fingers) and PIP (middle of fingers)

I have E OA in left little finger in both these joints so another symptom of E OA found

No I am right handed.

I was surprised why the left little finger was the worst so all I can gather is that it has nothing to do with use of that finger. Meaning any finger is likely to be affected regardless if right or left handed.

Doing some more research

It is probable it is hereditery even though I am not aware of a family connection

Has a Female dominance
