i saw a hand surgeon in feb who confirmed that i had oa in the joint of the base of my left thumb. I have pain here for over a year i have had injections that didnt help and have been wearing a splint for 3months which makes it a bit easier but not much. When i saw consultant in feb he said it wasnt bad enough to warrant an op. I am seeing his registra tomorrow as the pain is affecting my everyday activities and i am getting frustrated with it.how bad does it have to get?has anyone else had this problem? Im 54 and dont think im to young to have an op

well maisie i saw the hand surgeon this morning and he is still saying that my hand/thumb is not bad enough to warrant an op just yet,however he is referring me to another consultant for a 2nd opinion so will just have to wait and see what happens.
