Well the instructions say to post and introduce yourself so here I am! I was trying actually to find a TENS forum when I found this one instead and started reading, and just kinda stayed. I have had arthritis in many of my joints for a number of years and most of the time I just deal with it during the day. At night I take an anti-inflammatory, I can't remember which one we are on this year (they keep making my stomach have issues after a year or two and we have to switch!) and now a Norco or two (was Vicodin but then my HMO changed the formulary and now apparently everyone got switched to Norco...no biggie) so I can sleep. I also take Clonazepam (Klonopin) once in awhile for RLS, but only when it is really bad as I am not a huge fan of that drug. I am groggy the next morning when I take it. Of course there are a host of other issues as well, diabetes, blood pressure, the usual stuff.
The issue at the moment, and hence the TENS unit is my hip. Something happened to the bursa (I didn't follow that part) so now my hip rotates out of socket partially when it moves. I am working with a PT and she is really helping me a lot. She started out with a TENS-EMS unit then started giving me an anti-inflammatory via intophoresis, I believe it is called. The relief was remarkable! Of course we have exercises and such, she makes me laugh because she is more worried about hurting me than I am worried about it! LOL! Anyway, so I got a new TENS-EMS unit and am working with that and my exercises in between seeing her. Oh, and to top it all off, my HMO changed up the pharmacy ordering. To refill 3 month supplies I have to order via USMail (I have to sign for it at the pharmacy, but they can drop it in my mailbox????) so I realized too late that I was running low on everything, re-ordered, not thinking that it is Christmas time and the mails run slow so now I have been without pain meds for about a week! On the upside, the grandkids are coming out for Christmas and we will have a great time anyway!
