Hi, My Doctor prescribed Prednizone 3 10 mg in the the morning , 30 mg total for 3 days then 2 10 mg in morning for 2 days then 1 in morning for 1 day, Why in the morning all at once. This is for inflammation, Arthritis in my neck. Have had a stiff neck muscles for quit some time now. I am sure he has good reason. My wife didn't want me to take all at once because of side effects. So I took 1 mg in morn , one a little later around 11am and one at 7:3o. No reaction of any kind yet. Any experience with this drug. Have heard some horrible stories .. Thanks

He says I have osteoarthritis. Not sure if this is serious??

Your doctor wants you to get the full 30mg's of prednisone in your system all at once then the 20mg's all at once. Prednisone just works much better when dosed this way. Don't worry about side effects with the amount you are taking, you really start to see complications when you are taking prednisone on a daily basis for many months. You have nothing to worry about with your amount. Expert in prednisone therapy (almost killed me. 80mg's daily for over a year)

It's best to take your full dose in the morning, because this is the way your body releases its natural cortisone, and it is used best this way. Always take it with food as it can cause stomach irritation.

As rjbeck said, a short course of Prednisone such as this shouldn't cause any significant side effects.

Thanks for response. I feel better about the mg I am taking for sure. I was concerned about side effects, but this is for a short period of time and then he wants me to get on Ibuprofen for a week or so. Then See a Chiropractor to see if he can realign my neck. Then Physical therapy . Last resort surgery. Don't know if I would be up to the last part. Anyway thanks for information , Will be in touch.
