Hi, Thought maybe someone here might have some insight to my problem.....My right eye has wrinkle of retina, wavy line, double vision , distorted vision.... I am to young to have this problem . I am only,..... well past that....ok I am above 65 ... way above.....!! What now surgery corrective lenses Have not had new lenses since 2006. was wondering if laser surgery would correct this or new lenses. What i read its down Hill from here, but I have already been there.. Anything new out there.that would take me back to my youth or at least grt mr back to a respectable age.Thanks for response

Hi Inpower,

My mother had this problem for many years. She recently had surgery on her eye at Emory Hospital in Atlanta GA. She now has 20/20 vision in that eye. The surgery was outpatient. She had to return the next day for a check up, then back in 1 week then 1 month and now all is well. She had very little pain during the proceedure. Her only problem was a little bit of blurred vision at first from a fluid filled bubble that they put into the eye to help close the incision. It desolves in a few days. I also think that the insurance did not pay as well as it should. The insurance company considered the surgery elective......can you believe that?? 

The important thing is that this wrinkle can be repaired and with very little discomfort. My Mother is 75 years old.

Thank you for your response: I had heard about the surgery, but wasn't sure how effective it would be; I am hoping that
corrective lenses would help. I here that the procedure can do more harm than good. Depends on individual I suppose.

Hi, been awhile since been on. Still have the wrinkle of the retina, been going to retina specialist every 3 months he says i am just on the border of needed surgery. It been getting a little worse. Its really frustrating to try and read and do small shores where you have to focus. Any new development with this issue ?

My dr, says I am on borderline for surgery on my right eye, but is waiting to see if it will get worse. I am saying, why wait , why not go ahead and get it done now. If it improves my vision i am better off. its getting real frustrating when driving and focusing on smaller print. What do you think ? Thanks

My case was very mild, no mention of surgery. I do have annoying floaters; on a bad day I feel like I'm looking through a black lace screen. Most days my brain ignores it and I don't even see it.

They told me to be aware of and wary of odd light glimmers or sparkles, as this could be the first sign a retina is trying to detach.

Hi, jujub, Thanks for response, I sometimes have floaters and most of time feels like something is shading my vision. especially when driving Ok well it is what it is. , so we can do is take the best foot forward and hope for the best. thanks again.
