Recent diagnosed avn

Hi folks, about two months ago, I fell on my knee working on porch, constant pain, x ray did not show a bone problem, but mri shows can of the inner side of right knee, Ortho has me on crutches for a month, non weight bearing and on anti inflammatory meds, seems I am in the early stages, reading up a lot on avn.... any comments on the progression of avn? Will stage one lead to stage two and so on, or can this bone heal.... tx. Bi

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I had AVN in both femurs at the knee with surgeries about a year apart. I had partial collapse on the left . My orthopedic drilled my femurs and scraped out all the dead bone leaving it hollowed out and eggshell thin then he packed it with cadaver bone . I was non weight bearing for three months. I had the same surgery on the right a year later. I ended up needed one more surgery on the right after another dead spot showed up but I still have my own joints, thankfully.
