I agree with comments made above. See a hand arthritis specialist and a couple opinions is best. Do some research on the physicians. Also check into a rheumatologist they are very well trained for treating osteoarthritis.
I wear a fixxglove nightly for the past 6 years, it's like a hand brace but much more comfy than the standard types. It holds my hands and thumb in place, as we sleep hands form a fist and causes more swelling. Anti inflammatory meds help as well as muscle relaxers. There are many treatments that can give you relief . Important to treat now before to much damage is done to the hand.
Don't let it get you down it's not the end of the world. I have had surgery on my hands and many other joints due to osteoarthritis. I can still do all the things I love doing. My hands are a bit disfigured from years of abuse and arthritis. I learned from a physical therapist exercises and better ways of doing daily tasks. There are many hand helpers for arthritic hands joints . See online catalogs for further treatments at home.
My fav treatment is hot wax treatments. Helps relax the hand and sleep better at night.
Hope your better soon! Cold weather doesn't help I keep hand warmers in gloves when out and about
