Hello Michael.
Had one knee replaced and the other has torn miniscus and been treating with water therapy and zero gravity treadmill. Pt has done wonders so far as well as spring shoes takes the psi off knees some what like water therapy . So far so good 7 years managed to avoid TKR.
I have heard of the gel and other types of injections to help with knee issues. Never tried any but had my knees drained several times. The latest knee injection clinical study I read about
seems promising depending on what stage OA or injury is in at the time of treatment seems hopeful.
At the moment another drug is being tested in clinical studies for osteoarthritis of the knee/hip but it may work in arthritis in other areas of the body as well. I ran across a drug called Pentosan. Been on the market for years my horses were treated with it many times over the years. It can cure osteoarthritis is very good news for the massive amount of aging OA Patients. Most of the studies on knees/hips have stopped the progression of OA and changed the way the disease progresses. Also in some studies has helped the tissue LINING in the joint and also in other studies have shown repaired torn meniscus. In many cases knee & hip replacement has been prevented . I don't want to get my hopes up too much...maybe our children will have better options.
Good luck .
