Question about osteoporsis

Hi Loper & welcome to Healing Well. I tried looking up the medication you listed & could not find it listed at Drugs.com. I use that site to look up medications all of the time. If you can get the proper spelling, we can do a forum search here at HW to see if there are any posts about this medication.

I developed osteoporosis at a very early age because of heavy use of steroids. I used a medication that was an injection for a year for osteoporosis. The medication was to help slow down the progression. It's been so long I cannot remember the name of it. If you will go to MayoClinic.com, they have excellent information about osteoporosis along with a good information for self help.

Loper, I did a forum search here at HW & did not find any posts relating to Raloxifene. I did go to Drugs.com & looked it up, found there are I think 63 potential drug interactions with this particular medication, including certain vitamins. This website gives detailed information & the info is accurate. I hope you will go there & read.

I do not know how long your wife has been diagnosed or what her score is based on a current test. Often when caught early enough, the progression can be halted without medication. I do know drs will swing both way on treatment, some will recommend medications while others will say supplements & light weight baring exercises. The Mayo Clinic has great info on their site.

It has been so long since I was on the shots, I cannot remember the name. It may come to me when I am not thinking about it. I have lost several inches in height as a result of this, the key is to slow down the progression & keeping the bones strong. Mine was not discovered in early stages because of my age.
