Before you had your knee replacement was your back hurting alot too?  I am assuming because the way I am walking is causing the back pain.  Man it hurts like the dickens.  Thanks for your help.

It probably is because of your gait. In my case it wasn't my back as much as the hip on the opposite side. But yes, when something hurts we change our gait to protect it, then overstress other joints and cause problems with them.

What part of your back is hurting?

My spine. Right down the middle. I know the pain I have in my upper right rib cage has to do with adhesions from prior abdominal surgeries, but most of the time the pain in my spine hurts BAD~~

Hm. I'd more expect pain in the lower back/hip area. It could be, though, that you're holding yourself rigid to protect things and your back is getting stiff. You might try moist heat and some gentle stretching exercises. And have your doctor check it, because as you know the specter of AS is always present for us.

When I was suffering from the hip OA, my chiropracter found I had several things messed up because of what I was doing in compensation. Back, same knee, opposite knee, SI..... it'll be fascinating to see her again now after the replacement! (I am walking without a limp, yeah!)
