Hello, everyone. This is my first post on this forum. I am a 56 year old female. I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees. I have what the doctor says is "generalized osteoarthritis", fibromyalgia, and erosive inflammatory osteoarthritis. Lot of big words, but we all know that means we hurt in lots of places
. I never heard of inflammatory osteoarthritis until I saw a rheumy a few months ago. Since then, I have been taking Plaquenil, and it has helped me alot. I cannot take NSAIDs, and that is a shame. They used to give me so much relief, but they interfere w/my bp meds. I also have asthma.
Enough about that. I live in a rural area and have two inside cats and two outside cats who come in the garage when it gets cold. I am a bit of an animal lover. We have a lake on our property and I love to go fishing, too. We have lots of wild "critters" on our property, including bobcats, wild turkey, coyotes and deer.
I am interested in new treatments being developed. I would be so happy to hear of some treatment for severe osteoarthritisof the knees that did not involve total knee replacemnt. Yuck!!!
I am also interested in alterntive therapies, exercise suggestions, etc. I just started Tai Chi. It does seem to help my flexibility. Hoping to learn and share any helpful information I may have. Thanks, V
