Hello,
I will try to keep my story organized and short:
1) May 2013: I hurt my knee by banging it against the corner of my nightstand in the dark. It swelled up and I couldnt put weight on it for a week and had some trouble sleeping.
2) June 2013: Had xray done, was negative.
3) August/September 2013: Swelling went not as bad at this point, saw a knee speciailist (orthopedic?). He examed me for like 5 mins, said my ligament is strong and told me to use exercise bike to heal. Did not recommend an MRI.
4) June 2014-July 2014: (Yes lots of time passed, I did the stationary bike on and off) Went through a month of PT, had MRI which was normal.
5) End of July 2014 Finished PT.
6) Present day: I was told at PT to do workouts at home everyday for 3 months. I have been everyday and it has been about 5 weeks.
PT helped a lot, I have gained lots of strength. I use ankle weights when doing the workouts at home. My first day of PT I could not raise my leg straight without it shaking, I have gotten stronger. My knee used to crack/pop and have a giving out feeling as if the traction is off, this all occurred on a daily basis for the most part before I started PT. This is not an issue anymore. I still feel discomfort in my knee, it is not so much of a pain but a feeling of things being jumbled up or disorgained, it is kinda hard to explain. (if that makes any sense)? I have a support strap that goes around your leg right below the knee, when I wear it everything feels much better and more normal..but when I take it off things feel weird. I do not wear it as PT said not to so I dont get depended upon it. Is it really bad the wear so the weird feeling goes away? Did I wait too long to go through PT and deal with my injury? I feel like it is chronic. Thanks for the opinions and comments..I really do appreciatr them!
