Hi Billboy60:
Welcome. I, too, have OA in multiple joints. I have been taking NSAIDs for 11 years. I don't have gout. I understand that gout can be treated. I get a magazine about arthritis and saw something about gout in it. Can't look it up right now, maybe after the holidays.
I am 61 and I know the meds are hard on your organs but I have to take something to get by each day. My conditions are compounded with Fibromyalgia. The meds don't always work quite as well as what you see in ads but do help some. I am taking a low dose of Naproxen - 250 mg a day. I cut them in half and take half at breakfast and half at dinner time. I was taking a PPI, Omeprazole but I stopped taking it as I was having stomach problems. My stomach, so far, is OK without it.
I do use pain creams but I am not on pain meds. I am on Nortriptyline. It stopped nerve spasms but doesn't do much for pain.
Some people use Curcumin. I have tried it but I don't think I've noticed any significant change.
Take care.
Merry Christmas, if you celebrate.
