Here's the scoop. I've had a bad right hip since birth and a specialist in 1976 told me I'd be in a wheelchair by the age of 40-45. I'm now 56 and have had a stunning career as a salesman for over 25 years, standing on my feet I might add.
However, a couple years ago, the hip starting hurting a bit more and a bit more as time went on. In December, I got out of the shower, bent to get my clothes and couldn't straighten up. The pain was terrific in my lower back through the right hip to the knee and I had a hard time even dressing myself. I drove myself to the local ER and felt every bump. Well, to shorten a long story, x-rays revealed OA in both knees, both hips and back. I was sent to A D.O. for a follow up.
The D.O. listened to me. Looked at the x-rays. Moved my right leg around a bit which result in immediate pain. He told me that I have AVN ( ON ) and that the "ball" was already protruding and squashed resembling some mis-formed egg, at least that's my impression. I am now awaiting both a CAT scan and MRI with insurance approval to determine bone necrosis.
My concern is how may this impact my income and career? How debilitating is this in combination with each other? I've scoured the internet over the past 48 hours and have gotten some insights, but more would be greatly appreciated especially since I've broken out my collections of canes and have begun using them at work.
