geniculate nerve ablation

Has anyone had this done on their knee? I have been told by 2 orthopedic surgeons a tkr is out because high grade loss is only in 1 compartment and I am only 50. I am in constant pain. The pain medication only helps a little and I do not want to take any more pain medication. My next option is geniculate nerve ablation. So I am going to have it done and would like to hear from others how well it worked for them. Thanks.

I don't have any experience with the procedure you are having. That said - the following is from the Academy of American Orthopaedic Surgeons website:
"There are no absolute age or weight restrictions for total knee replacement surgery.
Recommendations for surgery are based on a patient's pain and disability, not age. Most patients who undergo total knee replacement are age 50 to 80, but orthopaedic surgeons evaluate patients individually. Total knee replacements have been performed successfully at all ages, from the young teenager with juvenile arthritis to the elderly patient with degenerative arthritis."

I think your age is less a factor than perhaps the level of damage. Have you had any cortisone injections in the knee? Did they help at all?

Had tons of injections. They help for a while at first but the more I got the less time it took to start hurting again. Just did the Synvisc-One and got no relief. Thanks for the info.
