Hello, 3 years ago I dislocated and fractured my finger trying to catch a basketball. At the time i didn't know what was wrong, but i still asked my caregivers to take me to the cliinic for a week straight and they refused saying it was just a jam. It hurt write with the finger and it was extremely hard bending. I continued to play basketball for the month until my caregiver saw my finger and decided it was time to take me to the hospital because it looked exactly the same if not worse. I ended up going to multiple doctors who x- rayed the finger and all said they didn't know what route to take to fix the finger. People tried using blunt force to move the finger back into place but the dislocated bone was apparently stuck in it's position. A doctor finally said he can operate on it and fix it. After surgery the doctor told me i would have arthritis. The surgery consisted of the surgeon wiring my lower finger to my upper finger by cutting a hole in my bone and wiring it to the upper bone. I rehabbed the finger for 2 months afterwards to regain motion etc. Fast forward to now im scared crapless about my future osteoarthritis, because i don't know when it'll hit me and all the stories I see are extremely scary. Secondly, My finger is still swollen and my rehabber told me my fingers swelling was supposed to go down after a year. Additionally, every now and then i feel a tiny tingle/ pain in my finger. Anybody have any knowledge or experience they can share with me. I've been overcome with anxiety lately, and I can't go on living without at least finding a way to cope with a disease that promotes intense chronic pain.
