Osteoarthritis (spondylosis) in neck

Hi all, I was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis recently, after having a lot of weakness and pain in neck. Had x-ray which shoes some deterioration and a couple of discs possibly rubbing. I am 50.

It comes and goes, but when it flares, I have unrelenting, debilitating fatigue, headaches, digestive disturbance, ear congestion, slightly faster pulse and a 'puffy' feeling from my eyes (they look small and huge fluid-y bags under them) to my fingertips.

Why would I have fatigue and the other symptoms, with osteoarthritis? Ugh.

Hi electracat, osteoarthritis is a wear/tear arthritis that is common with millions of people. People as young as 30 can get it. An injury can cause it too. And yes the symptoms can come & go.

Typical symptoms for cervical arthritis is pain, stiffness, headaches, shoulder pain & arm pain. The other symptoms you are describing do not sound arthritis related.

There is a lot of self help you can do, alternate using heat & ice packs, try some of the OTC pain patches that has lidacaine in them, different analgescis. There is a arthritis topical gel called Voltaren that is now available OTC, prior to February of this year it was available by prescription only. I have very good luck with it. Try gentle exercises. Also, if you haven't had your vitamin D & B12 levels checked lately, ask your pcp to order these labs.
