Wow, Im personally shocked that you work in a hospital and don't have your inhaler in your scrubs. When I worked in the nursing home, mine was always in my scrubs or in my fanny pack. Always on me. Sometimes, ice or hot vapor can help open the air way too. You prob need a neb treatment. Dont know ifyou know but honey, you cant mess with asthma, it endangers your life. You can black out, which is due to lack of oxygen to the brain.
One time, I had a severe asthma attack, I knew I needed help. I got on the city bus blacking out, and got to ER. Barely. I walked into the doors, someone in scrubs asked if he could help me so I gave my inhaler, I dont remember anything else...I passed out. I woke up having a team around me, me in a wheelchair (I dont know how I got in it), oxygen in my nose, all vitals being done at once by different nurses and someone shaking me and trying to get me to wake up. Got rushed to a room where they already had respitory team waiting, and I was given a nebulizer right on spot. Then another nebulizer round, and another. After I fully came around, got off oxygen, I was told I was lucky I came in when I did, and that I would of died 30 minutes later with nothing they could do to save me. That is the next city bus over here. Yes, I would be dead if I had not caught that bus and waited. You work in the medical field, it is time you stop and take care of yourself. Sweety, dont make the mistake I did and waited. It almost cost me my life. Do you want to cut your life short? I sure hope not. How many ppl can you help if you cant help yourself? I'm lucky to know my presigns before I black out. God was watching me on that day. I sure hope God is watching over you, because one of these days you will not be able to get to your inhaler and you can black out for good unless you get in a habit of keeping inhaler with you at all possible times.
If that isnt enough, here's another time for me. I woke up choking to death. Called my doctor in middle of night, he said stop messing around call 911. I called 911, I could not speak a full sentence by then, and barely got my address out, was blacking out too. The fire department had to pop a screen in living room window (thank God I had left it open to get the cool air) and break in. I had to get a neb treatment and oxygen in my bed, because of how critical I was. Funny thing was, I never take my phone to bed. I just happened to bring my cell phone in and put it on the stand next to bed cuz I was thinking my bf might call (who worked graveyard). I was took to thehospital by ambulance, hospital gave me another treatment then discharged me in my pj's and no shoes with no purse or money. Got lucky again, saw a friend who gave me a lift home.
Please dont play with your asthma hon. It nearly cost me my life.
