I can't tell if it's allergies or something worse??? help

I am very sick right now. I know my allergies are kicked up on high. I also have a sore throat today and I am worse than yesterday. I went to see my doctor on Thursday but I wasn't bad like I am now. I threw up a little blood about a quarter size. That's nothing to worry about. I had to go over to my next door neighbor and see what kind of inhaler she had, because mine wasn't working for my wheezing. I took 2 puffs of the one she had and I could breath in 5 minutes. I'm going to throw the Pro Air at my doctor and tell him to get me one that actually might save my life.

Why is throwing up blood nothing to worry about??? To me that just doesn't seem right. But it sounds like you should go back to the doctor now that your symptoms have increased.

I was only a quarter size... If it that a lot more than that like a bucket full then there would be something to worry about. It was only capillaries in the back of my throat breaking because I was coughing at the same time. I also work in a medical clinic with a doctor.

I get blood blisters on the back of my throat sometimes due to irritation...I'll bet that's what happened to you. Of course you need to be careful with blood...it can be a symptom of problems, as I'm sure you well know.

My allergies are also horrible now (and both my adult sons are having similar problems...sinuses, sore throat, tender glands). I've got them both doing nasal washings with warm salt water, to clear out their sinuses, and hopefully avoid a sinus infection.

I have asthma, so when my sinuses/allergies start kicking up, I get lung involvement right away. I'm on a new antihamine, Xyzal, that helps more that Allergra did (I was on it too long, and it was no longer effective). I was hopeful that it would help me avoid this, but the pollen is just too prevalent, and my allergies are just too severe. I get shots, and they help, but not completely.

I always have trouble deciding if I've got a cold or allergies in this situation, but I really believe the likelihood is that it's allergies. I just have horrible allergies. I have to accept that.

One more thing...if your asthma continues to be bad, and you need albuterol more than normal, you'll want to see your doc about the possibility of adding a steroid inhaler for the inflammation.

If you're that sick, you need to see the doctor, Hara.
When you're dealing with asthma, there's not much room for error.

Hara, If you are that sick you may have an upper respiratory infection which would require antibiotics. You must know this if you work in a medical office.  You should never use another person's inhaler.  I have bad asthma and I use symbicort for my long acting inhaler and if I have problems I use the pro air albuterol.  Pro air works if you use it correctly.  First of all, you should have a spacer to use with your inhaler.  A spacer gets the med into your lungs and not sticking on the back of your throat or on your tongue. You do need a prescription for a spacer.  All inhalers should be used with spacers.  It is the best way to get the med directly into your lungs. If you have asthma then you need a long term inhaler.  You should really see a pulmonologist to determine how bad your asthma may be.  You need to have the lungs tests to see where you are at. Using albuterol often is dangerous to your heart. Also, it is very important to clean out the casing of your inhaler and to clean your spacer.  Residue builds up on all the parts and this could clog up your inhaler and that may be why your pro air is not working.  No matter what type of albuterol you use for rescue - Pro air, Proventil to name a few - they all have the propellant HFA which is what powers most inhalers now.  It is not as effective as the old CFC inhalers which have been banned by the government. Well, I came out to work today in the car, nearly hit a light pole a couple of times. I called my father at 7:30am this morning. He's the one who told me to drive out . I told him that was not an option in my very horse voice. I'm leaving work after this last lady leaves and I'm headed for the ER. Next time I'm telling my father he can stick it. 

Yes, I did see all the babbling I did last night and not hitting the correct keys. I ran into my son's bedroom door three times last night. No I didn't get hurt. Thank God.

Hara, you should see a dr. immediately.  Your post sounds so irrational.  You should not be driving. I have never heard of asthma causing someone to be so disconnected.  You may have some kind of infection.  Do let us know what is wrong and if you are getting proper treatment.

Hopefully I get to see a doctor tomorrow. I should have never driven out to work. I did call 911 tonight on myself. They said all my O2 stats were at 100%, and my blood pressure was if. They also said there's a bed cold going around to.

blush hi to everyone member in this site...it's my first time posting here, i'm far away living in korea...and got this allergy problem , i often cee a doctor for my problem before 6 months ago and no exact result the Doc said it's about the weather that change and i got this mild flu, but not...this last week i gone to the doc again and he axactly found out my probs...i got allergy, my palm and feet were itchy...and headache....and some other symptoms,,,i'm scared...and wonder till when this probs happening to me...oh God please help me...

Do you know what you are allergic to Sudakshina? Did the doctor give you anything to help with your allergic reactions?

Good Morning! My user name is greatfacts and I may be able to give you some good information. First of all how long have you had allergies? Does anyone else in your home have them? Many times people will just treat the symptoms and don't try to find the cause. Let's see if we can help.

Are there any musty smells like mold in your home? Do you have any pets? Do you keep cleaning products in you home and if so, where do you store them? Do you use any air fresheners in your home? Have you changed your laundry detergent or any other products in your home?

This will give me a starting place to attempt to help you. Nothing that I say should be taken as medical advice. I give my suggestions based on 14 years experience and knowledge in Indoor Air Quality and Mold. I will wait for your reply.

Hi Hara, How do you feel today? You know even though your O2 Stats can be 100% sometimes you still need a nebulizer treatment. During a bad asthma attack you can trip yourself into an Anxiety attack which makes the asthma attack appear worse. If you are blacking out, that signals lack of oxygen to the brain. It requires immediate medical attention. Do you have a pulmonologist? Also, it sounded like the vomiting of blood was due to throat irration from the coughing. I do that. You might also have GERD (aka Acid Reflux). You said your allergies are sky high, so take a trip to your allergist to find out what allergies you have and get on a preventive medication. you also sound like you need preventive medication(s) for your asthma.

You did the right thing about calling911. I have shared this story numerous of times, but I was stupid in my judgement one time. Instead of calling 911, I took a bus to the hospital, blacking out every so often. I knew a huge black out was coming as I got off the bus, I could feel it. I forced myself to get in the ER, some guy in scrubs asked me if he could help me. I gave him my inhaler and passed out. darn, he was good lookin too hehe. When I woke up this time, I was already in a wheelchair, a full team around me, vitals being taken and oxygen on. After vitals were completed They whisked me into a room where respitory was already waiting. Must been out for a few minutes for sure. Anyways, I was told that night I would of died if I came in 30minutes later and they wouldnt have been able to save me. That would of been the next bus. What I should of done was called 911.

SmurfyShadow, This may sound stupid with me working in a medical office. I never even thought about 'blackouts'. I thought I was feeling better last night but this morning I feel just as lousy as I did on Monday.  Thanks for the Asthmatic/Anxiety info. Paramedics ...HAhhh what do they know????

OK OK OK.... Here's the update on today.  It's hard to explain. I feel like it's a cross between a  bad cold and a mild mild flu like symtoms. I have been to the ER today and am finally home. And here I am after a good nap and remember very little of the whole day.  I got to my doctor's office at 10:30. I remember the girl at the front desk asking me I I was going to be ok. I told her I felt like I was going to pass out. Suddenly there was a wheel chair that I fell into. Then I remember riding in the ambulance to the hospital. *all I remember was that I wanted .... OUT.... of the ambulance.*

I know this part is a little off topic but I just have to tell it. My kitty Napoleon is tight to my side unless I have my son take him away. His brother Skittle almost got himself killed. He stuck his head into my bedroom and meowed very loudly. My son comes flying down the hallway, scoops him up and says to Skittle leave my mom alone or you are going to get yourself into big trouble. Then he shut my door and I went to sleep.

I am not going back to bed and removing at least one of my pillows to lay down a little flatter , see if that helps.

What did the ER say? I'm laughing at the cats. My cats name is Skittles! How on earth do we always fall for letting the kids name the pets? Isnt it just weird how we "end up in wheelchairs" and dont know how on earth it happened? I want you to do me a favor and demand a allergy test. My cat and the dogs trigger my asthma up, even though my O2 stats are 99%. I'll still have to use a nebulizer here at home. Like today, I kept triggering off and I couldnt breathe, but my Oxygen was 98%. So I used the nebulizer, and then I was fine. Sounds like your allergies are triggering all your asthma issues.

The ER staff ... let's see if I can remember.?....ummm I had a chest exray to make sure I didn't have peumonia which was good. And they re-hydrated me. It took 2 bags of sailine and 3 thing of nausa medicine and two shots of Diloted to help me get calmed down so I could function a little and reply to their questions. I think the nurse said I had some kind of virus and to go home and rest alot and drink alot more than I was.... ??I guess?? Brain fog.

My other kittle Napoleon is sleeping on the couch right beside me any closer we would be attached by an ambilical cord... hehehe

Omg how cute. Get an allergist to find your allergies and get with a pulmonologist gf.
