Rheumatologist Tomorrow..Hive Issue...

Well, going to see the rheumatologist tomorrow, for those of you with hive problems. I was recently diagnosed with urticarial vasculitis (sp?), and they've (my gastroenterolgist (sp)) determined it to be an allergic reaction to my husband's medication. However, we haven't had unprotected intercourse since April 15th, and I'm still getting hives. They are no where near as bed as they were, but they're bad enough that you know they're still there!   Nasty little boogers, so who knows! I'm not sure how long my husband's medication (Humira) stays in my system as I'm not the patient taking it myself, and no one really knows because apparently I'm the first case ever, but if I find out anything interesting at all, I will keep you all informed!!! Thank you to everyone for your support and care, I've truly appreciated all of it!! I've been referred to the Mayo Clinic as well, so we'll see. 

I have something for you to try and figure out. I have what is called goosebumps just about every day. They hurt and make me so cold I have to go lay down in bed just to get warm and make them go away. I don't like to do that because I hate anything touching my skin. It does eventually go away, but it does come back. Go figure. I don't have any hives to speak of.

Thank you all for posting this. I did go to the rheumy, and as many of you know, he couldn't really do anything for me. We did have a nice long chat for about an hour or more, but all of my tests results came back normal for every auto-immune disease known to mankind, so that was great to hear. I guess my lupus test, like Ides, mentioned, was a little abnormal, but he said it wasn't high enough like regular lupus patients. So, he said, most definitely, it was the Humira causing all of this. I broke out today really badly, not sure why, but just on my legs. They weren't the painful kind though, so that is good I guess. Just trying to cope until these things finally do disappear. I guess the Humira people were coming in the office yesterday, so he was going to discuss my case with them. Try and find out anything possible that might help the situation. I'm also being sent to the Mayo Clinic with my husband for some further testing, so we'll see. But I'll keep everyone informed, thank you all!!!

Yes, the Mayo clinic is one of the best in the nation. So I'm sure or at least hoping that they can help you. My MIL suffered from hives (stress induced) for nearly 2 years and I watched her suffer from it. I know they are no fun at all!

YOu can devolope an allergic reaction any time to any medication. THere is also an rare disease called Chronic hives. I'll give you 3 guesses to guess those symptoms...haha
